AKYellowIron.com was ultimately developed because of the lack of resources to easily locate “Yellow Iron” and related materials in Alaska.  Although Alaska has an extremely busy construction market, it is often difficult to locate local equipment for sale.  Advertising equipment is generally limited to newspapers within Alaska which is very expensive to advertise long enough to make a sale. 

National online equipment classified sites rarely have Alaskan equipment advertised due to the cost of transportation to the Lower 48.  Additionally, Alaskans looking for equipment are often forced to buy outside of Alaska only to discover the equipment they needed was in the state and available, but unadvertised or only briefly advertised.
